Independent UK radon guidance Map potential ≠ indoor measurement
RADON MAP CHECK · UK GUIDANCE

Radon detectors

Radon detectors measure indoor radon over time; a postcode map cannot replace that measurement. UK householders can use an appropriate laboratory testing service or a radon-specific monitor suited to their purpose. Radon Map Check explains the options. Product and affiliate listings are placeholders, with no live sales, endorsements or medical advice.

What should I look for before ordering?

  • A service or device specifically intended to measure radon.
  • Clear instructions for placement, duration and return of passive detectors.
  • A report that explains the result and its units, Bq/m³.
  • A credible route for questions about uncertain or elevated results.
  • Full costs, including laboratory analysis, returns and any repeat testing.

Check current details with the provider. No product prices, accuracy claims or partner status are asserted here. Start with the official measurement-pack service if you need a testing route.

How should I interpret a result?

Use the provider's report and follow its advice. An instant display and an annual-average estimate are not interchangeable. See the UK Action and Target Level guide for the domestic context and remediation guidance for next steps after an elevated measurement.

Testing is about the building. Contact a qualified health professional for personal medical questions.
